Carradale Cricket Club played Sannox Cricket Club from Arran on Sunday afternoon for the Carran Cup.

Sannox batted first and set a target for Carradale of 151 runs. Whilst fielding, Carradale player Stuart Walker was struck between the eyes by the ball and had to be taken to Campbeltown Hospital for treatment.

After a short break for a very tasty tea Carradale took to the field to bat.

Injured man Walker returned from Campbeltown, having been stitched-up, and valiantly took his place in the line-up.

Some spirited batting then ensued as Carradale chased the visiting side's score. Sannox missed several 'gift' catches but batsmen continued to fall. Some splendid sixes helped bring Carradale to a best-ever score of 101 runs but it wasn't enough to stave-off defeat.

All in all it was a very enjoyable match. Carradale's players continue to improve and we look forward to their first victory in matches to come.
