30-08-12 Public Meeting Tonight
Public meeting tonight 30th August at 7pm in the Village Hall.

In October 2011 a meeting was held with the professional carers who live and work in Carradale to discuss the ideas in the article. As a result the thoughts in this article were developed further in the form of a document on Care of the Community. On the 5th December 2011 Shelagh Cameron, Cathy Forbes, Mary Macmillan, and Eric Dudley had a meeting with our MSP, Mike Russell, to discuss the document. He expressed enthusiasm and forwarded the document to Nicola Sturgeon. In January Nicola Sturgeon replied suggesting that the ideas might be appropriate for the Scottish Government’s Change Fund.

In January 2012 we contacted the Big Lottery. They suggested that under their "Investing in Ideas" scheme they might be able to support the costs of a consultant to help turn the ideas into a project. The proposal was put to the Community Council meeting on the 2nd February 2012 where it was approved. It was then submitted to the Big Lottery’s Investing in Ideas fund who approved it.

We asked the Centre for Rural Health at the University of the Highlands and Islands to undertake the consultancy. Here is an interesting and relevant article from one of their lead researchers.

On the 23rd February 2012 a meeting was held with representatives of Argyll and Bute and Argyll Voluntary Action to discuss these ideas

If you are interested in helping in any way to take this project forward please contact Cathy Forbes cathy@carradale.org, or telephone 01583 431 787.
