30-01-07 Hunting the Snark
The last few days have seen a lot of activity down at Port Righ with the arrival of contractors to begin work on the broken sewage outfall, aka The Port Righ Sea Monster.

So massive a mobile crane was required that a temporary road had to be dug across a field beside the Bay road and across part of Carradale Golf Course as the existing roads are too narrow and the bends too tight for it.
[Temporary Road at Port Righ]Amongst the other heavy plant already on-site is a rock boring machine which will be used to dig the channel along which the new pipe will run.

This is clearly a substantial investment by Scottish Water who have come in for criticism in the past for taking the cheap option when it comes to maintenance or repairs.
