Carradale AFC's match against Campbeltown Utd on Sunday was abandoned after one of Carradale's player had a leg broken. Archie Mitchell had to be taken from the park to Campbeltown Hospital by ambulance, and from there was transferred to a hospital in Glasgow. The incident, which was entirely accidental, drew a shadow over the match and Campbeltown's already confirmed position as winners of the Campbeltown and District AFL for which they were presented with the trophy. The afternoon was further spoiled by some of Campbeltown's younger players attempting to consume alcohol in The Glen Bar after the match. This was quickly detected by the management and dealth with accordingly. We all wish Archie a speedy recovery and hope to see him playing again next year. |
