Some people have asked to know why each of the places was nominated so we’ve picked some random nominations to give you a flavour of why nominators want to see each community win.
» Bowmore: Whisky. The Ileach. The Round Church. Lovely Lochindaal’. ‘The McTaggart Pool and the wildlife on the loch’.
» Bute: ‘The island is really one community with a great sense of belonging’.
» Campbeltown: ‘Because all it needs is people to believe in it’.
» Colintraive and Glendaruel: ‘Real ambition in a small and united community’.
» Dunoon: ‘Too important a place to be allowed to run through the fingers.’
» Easdale: ‘Envy’. ‘Great blend of individualistic and organised’.
» Luss: ‘Determined to stay a living organic community’. ‘God help anyone who lays a finger on Luss school.’
» Ormsary: ‘Just moved here and love the way the community is fighting to save its school’. ‘There’s nowhere like this place. You know where you are but not what time you’re in.’
