Well, what a stonking good night that was! That's the only was to describe Saturday evening's concert in the village hall in aid of the football club.
The evening started with a little guitar and pipes music, just to set the mood, before the Wild Sarachs took to the stage with a set of traditional tunes and songs on fiddle and strings.
Highlights included a rendition of Carradale Glen (first time I'd actually heard this sung) and rounded off with a slightly customised version of Campbeltown Loch.
Following on from the Sarachs the volume was cranked-up a notch or five and the evenings headline act, The Hugh Trowsers Band, took the stage by storm. With a blistering lead guitar and awesome electric fiddle they fired off a great set of songs in the Scottish rock genre.
For those still able to stand, the Trowsers were followed-up by a disco/dance which was still going strong when we left around 1am. The DJ (whose name escapes me) was a regular to Carradale in years gone past and was the evening's Mystery Guest. | |
