We met a friend and her children down at Torrisdale beach this morning and we all spent about an hour or so on the rocks and the old jetty. Despite being just the other side of the hill Torrisdale beach is completely different to Carradale beach - the former being littered with large round pebbles and the latter being predominately sandy. There are often seals swimming close to the beach at Torrisdale and if you're up for a scramble over the rocks then tucked away amongst the trees you'll find the ruins of Springwell Cottage, and nestled beneath the hillside above it is the natural well from which the site takes its name.
Don't forget tonight's concert by The Peat Bog Faeries down in Campbeltown, with local band Violent Echo supporting. It promises to be a great night. The wife is going down to see them with some friends so I'll apologise in advance if she gets drunk and starts dancing on the tables.
Tonight was supposed to see the annual Dugald John Campbell Memorial Pool Competition, but this has been put back a week to next weekend as there are a number of the local players away from the village at the moment. |
