22-10-05 War Memories
As was mentioned after the EKWFT meeting last week, Argyll & Bute Council's Employability Team have done a splendid job of clearing the overgrowd wilderness adjacent to and behind the War Memorial in Carradale as hopefully this picture shows.

The cleared ground is to be sown with grass seed and benches are to be provided. For visitors to the village, the War Memorial is situated directly opposite the Carradale Hotel and close to the village shop and Post Office at Carradale East.
Meanwhile the TheirPast/YourFuture exhibition continues at the Victoria Hall in Campbeltown. I had a walk around the exhibition earlier in the week and it's thoroughly recommended.

Carradale features in a number of exhibits including a photograph of the local Royal Observer Corps group from which several familiar faces peered. The shelter a-top the gold course was the wartime aircraft observation post and the underground Cold War bunker can still be found by those prepared to fight their way through the undergrowth on Hill 60.

[Carradale AFC]Don't forget this afternoon's football match at the Wellpark Field.

Kick-off is at 2pm and the visitors are Southend AFC who will no doubt be looking to end Carradale's unbroken home match record.

After the match players and supporters are welcome back at The Glen Bar to celebrate/commiserate over a pint and to enjoy the newly-installed Sky Sports satellite tv.
