20-04-09 Duncan Ritchie Memorial Quaich
Print of the Year by CARRADALE CAMERA CLUB.
Tonight was a gathering by all the club members for the print of the year (Monday 20th April).
First prize up was a lovely new trophy "Carradale Camera Club Quaich" presented by Christine Ritchie as a memorial to her recently deceased father, Duncan who was a member and valuable contributor to the Camera Club.
I believe Duncan had purchased this handsome quaich before he died and we are gratefull for this gift of which his memory will linger on throughout the club.
The plinth was made by local woodturner and craftsman Eric Norman. This new cup will be awarded annually to the winner of the "Print of The Year"competion which was held in the Village Hall Library with an external ajudicator.
The club has two other trophies, also presented annually, one of them, the Wallis Hunter Cup which is presented to the best Black and white photo, the other is the print of the year runner up.
And the winners of the "Print of the Year" who will be presented with their prizes at the AGM are Alan Harrow who will receive the handsome quaich, runner up Rachal Grant and Rachal also lifted the best B&W photo.Well done to them. Will post an update and some pics then.
Thanks also to our adjudicator Mr Ronald Togneri for his time and discussions on the pics and to all our entrants, 41 photos in all.
