18-10-06 Beach Warning
[Phosporus Flare]Having been away for a few days I missed all the excitement down on Carradale Beach where the Bomb Disposal Unit were called in by the Coastguard to deal with the remains of phosporus flares washed up on the beach.

Being phosporus they're realtively stable whilst submerged but when washed up they start to dry out and can then re-ignite.

It can't be stressed enough how dangerous these can be, so if you do find one on Carradale Beach, or anywhere else, don't touch it or try to move it - phone 999 straightaway and ask for the Coastguard.

Many thanks to JD for the photos.
