Semples pulled the plug yesterday on their last drop of fuel which they have done for over 46 years.Jim and Ann Semple ran the business for many years and handed over to son Kenneth and his wife Mary when they retired.
Once there were four petrol stations in Carradale,Semples being the last and stopping because of the rising fuel prices and little return for their service.It is a sad day for the community who now have to travell to Campbeltown for fuel whether it be for car,van or garden machinery.
There was a mention at the last EKCC meeting of a community by out but we'll wait and see on that.The business is up for sale,but in the meantime they still run the gift shop and post office.We thank them for their service over many years and hope all goes well sale wise or whatever.
