14-03-10 Visiting The Fishfarm

A trip out aboard the "John Arthur.

Lakeland Marines invitation to the community to visit the fishfarm cages and see the smolts being discharged from the live fish carrier Viktoria Viking.

Around 50 locals and visitors took up this offer,starting with leaving the harbour aboard the "John Arthur" tender boat, a trip round the cages before tying alongside and then aboard the Viktoria Viking to see this modern ship which is just newly built.

You could see the small smolts being pumped out of the ship into the cages,some 225,00 fish this trip and around 220,000 the previous trip distributed amongst the cages that are ready this time.

The company ferried small groups at a time back and forth with a buffet and hot/cold drinks available for all for most of the day.Kids and grownups enjoyed the event with thanks to Colin, Richard and the staff.
