14-01-08 Messing About on the Water
We've had several very positive comments about the new Ship Plotter feature available on the website.

This is connected to a VHF receiver and uses the signals received to plot the position of nearby ships onto a map, digitally, which is then uploaded to the website every few minutes.

Whilst trapped indoors by the weather at the weekend we took this a step further and added a link for it to the excellent Google Earth program so that you can view ship positions around Kintyre in real-time.

To access it you will need to select Downloads from the menu to the left and save the appropriate file to your computer's hard drive. You can then open this in Google Earth and it will automatically connect to our server and start showing ship positions.

Keeping to a nautical theme Gordon Goldie, a regular visitor to Carradale, has sent some superb images of Carradale scanned from slides made during the 1960's.

A selection of these has been added to the Bygone Days section of the Picture Gallery.
