Carradale Cricket Club played Oban Cricket Club at the weekend, at Taynuilt. Oban elected to bat first and initially set a fast pace. Carradale got their act together and some excellent bowling by Alistair MacMillan saw five wickets fall for just 30 runs. Carradale's fielding also found its form with Aidan Keogh catching heavy hitter Andrew Leach and slowing the Oban run-rate. Oban were eventually all-out for 143. Carradale then took to the crease and the home side began their attack. Starting well, with Stuart Walker hitting 24 off 2 overs, Oban's bowlers turned up the pressure and quickly saw-off four wickets. The remaining batsmen did their best but could only manage a total of 80 runs before they were all-out. Although a comfortable win for Oban CC, Carradale put in a spirited performance against a side who have yet to be beaten this season. |
