One resident remarked, tongue in cheek, that he was thinking of submitting a application for funding to East Kintyre Windfarm Trust, in order to supply the whole village with sunglasses, and it has frequently been the topic of bar-room and petrol-pump conversation recently.
Carradale doesn't fall within a conservation area and so planning permission isn't usually required to change the colour of a house, but perhaps a shade less vivid would have caused less comment.
