Carradale AFC were soundly beated by Southend AFC when the team traveloled down to the Mull of Kintyre for it's Sunday afternoon match, with Southend hammering in 8 goals to Carradale's 1. The Southend team simply out-played Carradale, some of whose players were suffering from 'self-inflicted injuries' following a party on Saturday night. |
Carradale AFC's next match is next Saturday and is away to Lochranza on the Isle of Arran. A minibus has been organised to transport team and supporters across. Let's hope for a better result. The weather has turned damp again after a several days of being warm and bright. We're also starting to notice the nights drawing in and the leaves on the trees turning golden brown as the seasons advance towards autumn. For a change we went across to the west side of Kintyre and visited Machrihanish on Sunday. Aside from its excellent golf course the village has some lovely houses and a fine sandy beach. There's a wide-angle picture of the beach in our Panoramic Pictures section. The nearby bird observatory is well worth a visit also. Coming back again we came up the west coast road to Killean and were lucky enough to spot otters playing in the surf close to Bellochanty. We then crossed the spine of Kintyre using a forestry road before descending at Brackley and then home again. | Does anyone know anything about the strange markings on this rock seen on Machrihanish beach? |
