According to Scottish Hydro they lost a major feed which cut power to Kintyre and much of the west of Scotland. They fixed the fault very promptly, however, and power was restored after about an hour.
The storms brought with them heavy rain which caused flooding of the Carradale Water upstream of Dippen Bridge. There was also a fair amount of standing water on the roads both approaching and within the village itself.
On the B842 north of Carradale recent groundwork has resulted in drainage channels being blocked which led in turn to flooding on the road. Ironically the groundworks in question are to do with renewing the water main to Brackley.
