![]() | It's Midsummer's Day and the morning of the Summer Solstice. Was anybody up to watch the dawn? It hardly seems like six months since the storms of the New Year brought so much havoc to the village. This morning the weather is dry, bright, sunny and warm. Perfect weather for a walk on the beach, in fact. The forecast looks good for the weekend, too, which should please football and cricket fans. Speaking of good weather, Diane Reek kindly send some photographs she took whilst visiting the village a short time ago. We've had quite a few submissions in the last few months so have decided it's time to add a new volume to the Gallery section, specifically for photo's that are sent to us by people visiting the area, so Diane you're get the honour of being first. |
This weekend our eldest daughter, Natasha, will be flying out to Africa to experience life in Zambia and help at the Mthunzi Centre orphanage, part of the Koinonia Community. Over the last few weeks she has been busy raising money to buy learning materials and other things to take out with her to give to the children in the orphanage, and we've all been overwhelmed by people's generosity. Her suitcase is packed full of things like pencils and sharpeners, rubbers, solar powered calculators, exercise books, geometry sets, small soft toys, and a host of other items which will, I'm sure, be very useful to the kids in Zambia. She's also taking a bag full of cheap cameras with her so we hope to have some great photos to post here when she returns. Thank you, everyone, for your support and donations. | ![]() |
