Good afternoon partners,
Finally getting the chance to sit down and write an email to you all after the weekend's event!
Just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who got involved in the Christmas Market on Sunday, either by having a stall there on the day or just coming along and showing your support. I think it’s safe to say that we were all amazed at the number of locals and visitors who turned up in their hundreds for what seems to have been a very successful day for everyone. It was great to see so many different businesses under one roof and truly celebrate what we have to offer as a community. I think you will all agree there was a great buzz about the place and everyone seemed to be getting into the Christmas spirit.
We have had some overwhelming feedback on the Facebook site and via email. I really appreciate all the kind things that were said about the organisation of the day and it’s great to see that so many people enjoyed themselves and are spreading the word about how successful it was.
Now for the special thanks:
Firstly to the Springbank staff for their hard work during the week before the Market; painting the Malt Barns, fetching all the tables and chairs we needed and just being generally willing to do anything we asked them, in particular Neil and his creative eye for decorating the Malt Barns and helping to turn it into a Winter Wonderland!
Campbeltown Heritage Centre also deserve a big thank you for kindly lending us the majority of tables we needed for the day (remember to send your visitors there next Summer!) as well as Stronvaar Bowling Club for the extra tables and chairs we required. Campbeltown Christmas Lights Group also lent us their Santa's Grotto for the occasion and a collection for them on the day raised £140.40 which is great.
Thank you to Santa & his two elves who were brilliant throughout the day entertaining all the kiddies and also to Erin Mclellan who played her cornet and our three singers who did a fantastic job of spreading Christmas joy through their music.
Finally, most deserving of a special thank you is Clare Mead of the Bathtime Cafe for having the initial idea back in May and for letting us develop it while assisting us throughout the process. Without her creative mind, the Market would never have happened so I think she deserves a very special thanks and I hope that we managed to do her idea justice!
The Courier have asked for some feedback on the day so hopefully we will get some well deserved coverage this Friday! :-) We were desperately hoping that it would be successful so that we could make it a yearly event and I think it’s safe to say that it WILL be repeated again next year! Ideas have already been flying round the office and I have a feeling that it is going to be even bigger and better in 2014!
The Picture House launch new fundraising project
During the Christmas Market on Sunday, Campbeltown Picture House launched their new fundraising project, Pick a Peck of Pixels. One shot at the game costs just £5 and there are some very impressive prizes up for grabs which were kindly donated to the Centenary Project cause. Along with the first prize of £1,000 cash, there is also:

Welcome to Scotland Guide 2014
A lady from the Landmark Press has recently been in contact with me regarding an advert being placed in the Welcome to Scotland guide 2014. As 2014 is the year of Homecoming Scotland, they are keen to hear from groups from destination areas in Scotland. The advert would help to put Campbeltown on the map as a destination to visit which would benefit all of us as a town.
She put together costing’s for another group recently and thought it might be useful for me to show you all (it's attached to this email). She based it on the group having 60 members but if we were to divide it between all our members (almost 200) then the cost would be dramatically cheaper per member. I’m not sure if any of you would be interested in this but I promised her I would ask you anyway so would really appreciate any feedback whatsoever.
Anyway, I’m sure that things are beginning to get hectic for you all in the run up to Christmas (it is coming round far too quickly for my liking) so incase I don’t get the chance to say it again then I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to your continued support in 2014, along with many more events and ideas developing!
