![]() | The Carradale production of 'Seeker, Reaper' the other weekend was a great success, as anyone who was there will go to lengths to tell you. With Carradale's intense connection to the fishing industry, and Herring in particular, it came as no surprise that some of the audience also featured in some of the photographs being shown. The evening raised the splendid sum of £760 which has been split between the Fishermen's Mission, Carradale Drama Club and the Network Heritage Centre at Carradale. The event highlighted something very important, however, which is the very grave risk that the wealth of photographs and cine-film of this period in Scotland's history could very easily be lost as those who were involved with it are they themselves lost to time. Over the many years people have been coming to Carradale a phenomenal number of photographs must have taken, and many yards of film to-boot. |
With this in mind one of the organisers, Lachie Paterson, approached me and asked if we could appeal for anyone with photographs or cine-film of Carradale and the fishing fleet to get in touch with him in order that it can be borrowed and transferred to digital media and so preserved for the future. If you have any material or think you know someone who does then please contact Lachie via email at lachie.paterson@btinternet.com |
