
The body of this 30ft Minke whale was washed up on Carradale Beach overnight (06 Oct 2005). |

Minke whales are baleen whales, meaning they don't have teeth but instead strain their food through their lower jaw - the baleen plates. They eat fish and invertebrates. |

Minke whales grow to be as much as 32ft if male, and 35ft if female, so this one was pretty much fully grown when it died. |
