Tarbert's annual raft race (2006) took place last weekend (15/07/06) in Tarbert harbour.
The weather was sunny and very warm. As part of the Food Festival there were several stalls
serving freshly caught seafood, and the bars and hotels were doing a roaring trade.

The first part of the race involved the teams paddling across to a specially constructed slide
where one member had to scale the ladder and slide down into the water, all the time being
doused-down with water cannons...

Having recovered their teammate the crews then had to paddle across the harbour to
rescue a stranded crew-member waiting on a pontoon...

They then had to call in at 'The Rave Cave' where the whole team had to disembark and
spend a minute and a half dancing like loonatics... This is 'Team 118-999'...

This team were called 'The Tartan Army' - can't imagine why...

Having ritually humiliated themselves in 'The Rave Cave' teams re-embarked to continue
on their last leg of the race...

Team 118-999 struggle to hold onto the lead from The Crab Boys...

The Crab Boys go for a bit of outboard power...

The Tartan Army finally makes it to 'The Rave Cave'...

Meanwhile, Tommy Sheridan's Sociable Party are coming on fast...
