The hills of the Isle of Arran, with in the foreground Carradale Bay.

The SPV Minna standing off Carradale Bay in March. In service with the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency (SFPA) since 2003, she displaces 781 tonnes and has a top speed of 14 knots.

A fine specimen of a Heron, surveying its territory in the field behind the stables at Waterfoot.

The Shell Beach at Tarbert is well worth a visit. To get to it just follow the road along the harbour until it comes to a dead end. The beach is just a short distance and sign-posted.

Steph and the two little ones on the Shell Beach at Tarbert. This tiny but amazing little beach is entirely covered in scallop shells.

Carradale Bay from high on the slopes above Waterfoot. In the distance is Carradale East and the harbour, the Kilbrannan Sound, and then the hills of the Isle of Arran.

Carradale Caravan Park is tucked in right beside the beach. This pre-season picture shows just the statics and chalets, with plenty of space for touring caravans that will arrive later in the year.

High on the slopes above Waterfoot nestles this tiny wee cave. Perhaps the home of the Faerie-folk, or maybe even Bochan Mor?

Early in February 2005 I spotted this submarine on the surface a few miles off the coast between Carradale and Campbeltown. Presumably she's a Royal Navy boat but the distance and weather conditions made identification a hopeless task. The vague outline behind it is Ailsa Craig.

The three wind turbines on the Isle of Gigha, taken from the forrestry road above Killean. In the distance is the Isle of Jura.
