The body of this 30ft Minke whale was washed up on Carradale Beach overnight (06 Oct 2005).

Minke whales are baleen whales, meaning they don't have teeth but instead strain their food through their lower jaw - the baleen plates. They eat fish and invertebrates.

Minke whales grow to be as much as 32ft if male, and 35ft if female, so this one was pretty much fully grown when it died.
